Bee-Line!

Answer to last riddle: Everyone on the bus was married, so not a "single" person was left on the bus.

Ah, a semantic riddle! I know I know, some of you feel cheated, heh. But a few of you still got it, so congrats! Let's try a mathy one as our next riddle. (I'm trying to mix up the flavours!)

Two trains speed toward each other on the same track. From 180 km apart, the westward train is travelling at a constant 120 km/h and the eastward train is travelling at a constant 150 km/h. A bee is hovering just on the nose of the westward train. It buzzes to the eastward train, turns around immediately, and flies back to the westward train. And on it goes, back and forth and back and forth until the trains crash and the bee is squashed to death. If the bee flies at exactly 300 km/h, what is the total distance that it flew?

  6. Oh lord, it's algebra all over again. I just took a test today. 180 km? That's mostly a guess >.>

  7. math, so painful.
my only answer is= > air-pressure will lift the bee up, so that she is safe.

  8. 120 is 4/5 of 150.
    80 is 4/5 of 100.
So the crash happens when the westward train has travelled 80km (and the east has travelled 100km).
    80 is 2/3 of 120 so 40 minutes.
    2/3 of 300 is 200.

The bee flew 200km and is very very stupid lol.

  9. It's easy! First find the time it takes for the trains to collide and then find out how much distance the bee traveled!

  10. maths D:
also, that's an absolutely buff bee. 300km/h is pretty intense.

  11. Shouldn't the bee be squashed after the first switch? :o they're travelling in to opposite directions, and the relative speed to the opposite train should be massively different.

  17. WAY to far, considering had he just flew sideways, he'd've avoided being squashed!
