Those Canadians!

Answer to last puzzle, as given by D4 (and others):
Fill up the 5L jug and pour it into the 9L jug, pour into the 5L jug again, pour as much possible into the 9L jug. You'll have 1L left on the 5L jug, empty the 9L jug, pour the 5L jug into the 9L and then another full 5L. Leaving you with 6L in the 9L jug.

It's an interesting puzzle because there's so many variations on it simply by changing the volume of the jugs, the final amount of water required, adding more jugs, etc etc... An interesting subquestion is, Given two jugs of defined volume, what exact quantities can be measured from them? Or given a quantity, what two jug volumes can be used to measure it? If not two, what about three?

A New York city hairdresser recently said that he would rather cut the hair of three Canadians than one New Yorker. Why?

  1. well who would want to cut down a newyorker? oh wait...

  2. Because that would be more customers and more money. Maybe that's too obvious of an answer.

  12. I think the barber was from Canada and was living in NY. Therefore preferred over their compatriots. Or, simblemente was gay and thought that Canadians are more cute lol..

  14. I wouldn't be able to understand the difference between new yorkers and canadians hair, so I'd think that was said simply because they like to cut hair and because 3 people is more than 1..

  15. Maybe it's because Canadians are 30% less likely to bit you.

  19. same as above
but 99% sure it's not that obvious

  20. Or maybe it is that obvious. Some riddles thrive off of being that obvious. I'm going with more money, although I feel as though I'm missing something involving the words 'the hair' as in singular hair... maybe.
