Answer to last puzzle: The doors at the Coconut Grove opened inward. In the mad dash to escape the fire, people were crushed against the doors and couldn't pull them open. After the Coconut Grove disaster in 1942, all public buildings had to have doors which opened outward.
Glad to see that quite a few of you got it! I thought this was a pretty interesting bit of trivia. And now, where ever I go, I notice that the doors to a place swing outwards. This little tidbit also prevents some embarassing situations where I attempted to push a "pull" door and walked into it in the process. Don't laugh! I know it happens to everyone =P.
An Arab shiekh died recently, leaving a massive fortune and vast estate. In his will, he instructs that his only two sons are to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The only catch is, the one whose camel arrives last is declared the heir. After a long day in the open desert and having travelled only a marginal distance, the brothers check into an inn where they tell the curious innkeeper about their task. The innkeeper utters two words, to which the brothers run outside, race the camels as fast as they can to their destination. What did the wise innkeeper say to them?
No Vacancy?

ReplyDeleteDoes the Innkeeper utter the words,
ReplyDelete"I'm gay" to which the 2 homophobic sons are so scared they have no choice but to ride away to the city as fast as possible. They end up arriving at the same time, and the money is shared equally! And they all lived happily ever after. The end.

ReplyDeleteI've heard this one. But it was told a little differently (not that it matters) But the answer I have is : horses, because it was a trick, they had left on horses not camels therefore neither would arrive on a camel last.
