The musician, banker, and lawyer

Wow guys,
I was looking for two answers, 1) he was clean to begin with or 2) he showered, which you guys nailed immediately and gave me even more (he works there, etc etc). So great job!

Four men met every Thursday lunchtime at the Turkish Baths. Joe, a San Diego musician, always brought his personal cassette player so he could listen to music. Jack, a mortgage banker, brought a thermos containing a drink. Jim, a personal injury lawyer, and John, a divorce lawyer, brought paperback books to read.

One day in the mist-filled room, John was found dead from a deep wound through his heart. The police were called immediately. They questioned all three suspects, but no one said that they had seen anything happen. A thorough search was carried out, but no murder weapon could be found. What happened?

  2. The other two men could have heard or seen the murder except that Joe was listening to music and is blind, while Jim was reading a book and is deaf.

  11. Okay.

Jack, the mortgage banker, was getting a divorce. John was the lawyer in the case for Jack's wife, and gave Jack's wife all of the money and property.

So, Jack brought an icicle in the thermos, and stabbed John with it while Joe listened to music. He didn't hear anything.

The last part of the puzzle is Jim. I think Jim probably was Jack's lawyer, who was suing his wife to get back the things he lost in the divorce, but they knew they couldn't win with John on the case, an amazing lawyer. They were in cahoots.

  17. Inside the thermos was sulfuric acid which the dead guy had drank. Since sulfuric acid is a complex compound liquid acidic gas solid, it was carried in the blood stream to his heart. Due to the polar magnitude of his heart valves, the sulfuric acid stuck to it and slowly burnt a whole through his chest, eating him from the inside out. The mist in the room was sulfuric acid mist.
